1) During the summer I'm not near my university's gym so I rely on a barbell and bench station-type-of-deal to workout. It's the most versatile equipment I use. The amount of exercises to do are endless.Have a good weekend everyone.
However, there are instances where I'd like dumbbells, but I realized a good substitute is to use the EZ curl bar. Works well for unilateral farmer's walks. Just be sure to grab it dead center or it'll throw your balance & coordination off.
2) Speaking of barbells, I always forget the simple details of an exercise aren't obvious to everyone. For example, during the bench press the bar should be descended to a spot right under the nipples or upper windpipe.
3) Ever find a song online you like but no downloadable version of it exists? Well that's where Audacity comes in. Install, hit the big record button in the program while your song plays, and voila! Click "File" and choose "export as mp3" to have yourself a copy of it.
I'm actually going to use the program to record phone interviews for my lab instead of using cassette tapes. Same way for the most part. Microphone into your computer's mic jack, hit record, export. Nifty, right?
4) Not sure which articles to feature this time around, but I'll throw 2 out there. The first is hilarious from Charles Poliquin's latest series on women & their approach to fitness. I found part 2 the funniest, so I'll link that one here. The others you can find on the site.
Carter Schoffer wrote this next article I really liked because of the message it puts across amazingly well. Give it a read here and I dare you tell me you don't like it either!
5) I haven't done any extensive posts - at least in my view (single or a series) - recently like When Anna Meets Jane or Art of Writing. I was thinking of doing an entire month of blog posts covering running or a 2, 3, or 4 part on how to design a simple program. I've been reluctant to do so because I feel I'm not as learned in the areas as I'd like to be. We'll see what the following weeks has to come.
6) Been short on words as well lately, but let's see what I can find, hmm. Here we go,
educe - (ih-doos) - v. - To elicit, evoke, draw or bring out.
7) My sister sent the following video to me which is a parody of the Old Spice commercials. For a commercial advertising a library, it's pretty damn good.
Hyah!

Miscellaneous Pile, 07/23/10
Not a bad way to end a Friday with one of these (added to the fact the last time I did one was in May).
